The OXJAM MANCHESTER team would like to give a huge thank you to Blacka Acoustics who have provided loads of equipment for us so that we can bring you a luxurious line up of bands at Odd and Apotheca on Sunday.

Without them this would not have been possible! Blacka have provided a package of equipment specially put together to suit our requirements and to make sure fellow OXJAMMERS get the best sounds this Sunday!

Blacka Acoustics is a familiy owned business and provides a range of services focused around the hire and installation of sound, lighting, audio visual and staging.

They provide services to bars, restaurants, nightclubs, live venues, social clubs, church’s, hotels, retail outlets.. and OXJAM MANCHESTER!!!

Thanks to the The Thistle Hotel Manchester who have been kind enough to provide us with five hotel rooms to house some of our lovely musicians on the night of the OXJAM MANCHESTER TAKEOVER!

Without them a few of our musical heros would have been rambling about amdist the Manchester mist all night after the gig of their lives!

Undercover Speed Dating

Good music, romantic lighting, drinks flowing freely, good company… I could probably get into this whole speed dating malarky! That is, if I were single…

However, last friday I was speed dating with a mission, a remit… Myself and my good friend Miriam were to meet all the speed daters, but only to talk about Climate Change, and more specifically, Oxfam’s Here & Now campaign. The idea had hit us after the success of our last speed dating event. What campaigners wouldn’t give an arm and a leg for three minutes one-on-one with their target audience? We had exactly that opportunity last week at Rain Bar.

I think it went pretty well. The ladies certainly weren’t averse to talking about climate change. There was definitely a lot of interest in ‘the Wave’ march down in London in December. And I was asked quite a few times ’so what can I do?’

We are on a mission to get local business involved and to give us raffle prizes! Our first lovely donation has been provided by Earth Cafe, a tasty vegetarian restaurant in the Northern Quarter.

They have given us two free meal vouchers for 2 people. I always thought vegetarians were the kindest greatest people (not that I am bias).
